Introduction from Deputy Principal

Welcome to Bridge Academy West which forms part of the Stephenson Academy Trust, we hope that you find the contents of our website useful. I have worked across a range of schools in the area as a Science Teacher and have been employed as part of the Trust for 4 years.

Bridge Academy West is based in West Bletchley and supports up to 30 students at Key Stage 3 and 4. Students are referred to us via their mainstream school when students are struggling to access education due to medical or mental health issues. We work closely with the referring school and the student’s family to ensure a smooth transition and offer a bespoke, child-centred induction process to reduce the anxiety attached to the previous experience of attending school.

The number of hours in school will be dependent on each individual needs and can range from 5 hours focusing on core subjects,  up to 20 hours covering up to 7 qualifications at GCSE level.

A range of interventions, notably numeracy, literacy and social skills, are offered where necessary, our in-house assessment procedures on entry will be able to highlight any areas for development; on-going support can be offered in small group interventions or, in some cases, with a learning mentor in one-to-one sessions.

In some cases, there is a need to provide offsite tuition and this can be carried out in the student’s home or in a suitable environment within the community, for example a session in the library.

Bridge Academy students have access to a therapeutic team, via a referral process, to support with a variety of needs, educational, social and emotional. The team are highly experienced and consist of:

 Educational Psychologist

  • Forensic Psychologist
  • Family Therapist
  • Psychodynamic Therapist
  • Art Therapist
  • Two Assistant Psychologists
  • Family Support Worker

On site at Bridge Academy West we have two areas designed for therapeutic sessions and also for mindfulness and yoga which is part of the curriculum to teach students how to develop their own strategies in reducing anxiety, relaxation and resilience.
